Equine Massage

  • Horses can benefit from a massage just as much as we can. It helps with circulation to improve blood flow to deliver oxygen and nutrients to horses muscles and tissue. It can also help reduce muscle soreness and promote healing.

  • By addressing issues early, massage has the potential to prevent injuries from developing and worsening.

  • Equine massage can help alleviate pain associated with muscle stiffness, injuries, or conditions such as arthritis.

  • Routine massage may improve range of motion and performance by addressing muscle imbalances and promoting optimal physical condition.

Dry Salt Therapy

Equine dry salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, involves exposing horse's to microscopic salt particles through a mask and is believed to offer several potential benefits.

  • Equine Salt Therapy is natural, non-invasive and drug free. It offers a natural & holistic approach to support the health of horses without the need for medications that may have side effects.

  •  Salt infused air helps reduce tissue irritation and swelling, opening airways to improve breathing and oxygen utilization.

  • Improves respiratory health by cleansing and clearing airways, helping horses suffering with allergies, asthma, bronchitis, and heaves.

  • The fine salt particles can reduce inflammation and promote better lung function. They help break down and loosen mucus in the respiratory tract, assisting in expelling accumulated mucus, thereby reducing risk of infection and enhancing lung health.

  • The microclimate of the salt can have a positive effect on the skin and coat, helping alleviate skin irritation, and soothe itching.

  • Some horse owners and trainers believe equine salt therapy can lead to improved athletic performance and quicker recovery times. Supporting respiratory health can help horses achieve better endurance and recover faster from strenuous activities.

What to Expect After a Therapy Session

Massage

Similar to humans, horses may feel a bit dehydrated after a massage. They might seek water to rehydrate themselves, especially if the massage has increased their circulation or body temperature.

Dry Salt Therapy

Your horse may experience a slight cough, minor tightness in the chest or runny nose, but this is simply the salt doing its work to remove mucus and toxins from the lungs and airways.

History of Equine Dry Salt Therapy & Massage

How it all began
Salt Therapy, Also known As Halotherapy has been used for centuries to improve respiratory & skin conditions in both humans and animals. In 1946 Salt Therapy was introduced in Scandinavia after an outbreak of polopmyelitis. Hippotherapy, as practiced was developed in the 1960s when it began to be used in Germany, Switzerland & Austria as an adjunct to traditional physical therapy.
Equine Massage-The modern practice of equine massage began to take shape in the 20th century. As equestrian sports and horse racing gained popularity, the need for specialized equine therapies grew. This led to the formalization of equine massage techniques and the establishment of training programs and certifications.
